Your Estate Planning Team

We are truly a family firm.

Michael is the attorney. A graduate of UVA Law School, he is bilingual (Spanish). He grew up on the West Coast, and has lived in Utah, South Texas, West Texas, New Mexico, and briefly in Ohio, Poland, and Bolivia before settling in Hanover County, Virginia. He spends most of his non-lawyering time with his family, but also loves driving his 1969 Volkswagen Beetle, collecting and studying great films and books, and watching all kinds of sports.

Kristina, Michael’s mother-in-law, is our Firm Coordinator, ensuring your process is smooth and stays on track. She will help coordinate payments, transfer of information and documents, and will be in attendance at almost all our signings as our in-house notary. She is originally from California, by way of Utah. After a career in aviation, she joined Berdan Law in 2024.

You also might meet Karl, who is Kristina’s husband and frequently attends signings as a witness. He loves motorcycles, Dr. Pepper, gardening, and keeping up with his grandsons.

More behind the scenes, Marge is our paralegal extraordinaire, working from the Philippines to help with deed research, document drafting, and quality control.
